What's all this about going green?

Ever wondered what the picture above would look like without the green thrown in? Pathetic, right? We guess so too. Human beings are a blessed race. We are the ones that walk erect, can dance, think and generally live a great life based on the natural resources around us. But we are slowly loosing it. Our greed, lust and insatiable libidos have turned us into some kind of parasite seeking constant momentary pleasure and gratification. The blessing we carry with us has not been put to good use. The reasons for this fallacy could be many and we could spend years playing the blame game and get closer to our annihilation. Hehehe you smirk, as you read this. Too bad your grand daughter won't. Trust us on that.

Irregular weather, incessant rains and flash floods are mere subtle warnings of what is to come our way soon. It is not something that will take eons to happen. Perhaps, most of us will be able to see things become far worse than we imagine in our very lifetimes.

To be honest about the whole thing, we can also tell you that a lot of damage that has been done unto the planet is irreversible. But the worst (read annihilation) can be averted or at least delayed to a large extent if all of us can actively get together and do our bits in reducing pollution, cutting wastage and recycling things the right way.

The Green Monoshock Initiative from us is not a short term campaign to hog the limelight or to look for sponsors and donations. We are very clear about that as a team. You could support this cause truly by contributing your thoughts, articles and pictures on environmental issues and by telling your friends about it. You could also put up our 'Lets go hug a tree' logo on your website and link it back to our web page!

Heck no! That is not what we are asking you to do. The image here is just for shock value. As bikers, riding machines which spew carbon compounds in the atmosphere, we are responsible to reduce our carbon footprints to a minimum. What that translates to is, that the next time you are riding to work on your two stroke machine, know that you are dumping about four times more environment harming gases into the air than your friend who is riding his sissy 100cc four stroke econo commuter!

This also does not mean that we are now writing off bigger machines into oblivion. It merely means that please move ahead with times. That RD 350 is a good weekend ride and let it be that way. We, at Monoshock understand that bikers are, perhaps the most sensitive human beings when it comes to all kinds with machines, moving on the road. That you have made the choice of hitting the road on a two wheeler, makes you a special person. It sets you apart. We thus appeal to this sensitive side of you, to change a few things around yourself and help make a huge difference to the environment. And we know that you can.
